SAN DIEGO, CA - USD (18-11, 12-4) defeated Gonzaga Monday to become the 2003 West Coast Conference Tournament Champions. The Zags started strong, jumping out to a 15-2 lead, but USD continued to fight. With a 15-2 run of their own, the Toreros pulled back ahead 25-22 and maintained control from there, winning by a final score of 72-63. Tournament MVP Jason Keep (photo bottom right) led the Toreros with 18 points. With the win, USD will receive an automatic birth in the NCAA Tournament starting March 21st.
