SAN DIEGO, CA - (1-27-08) Authorities are investigating two separate officer involved shootings Saturday night and Sunday morning. The first happened Saturday night around 10:30pm in Pacific Beach near the 1700 block of Grand Avenue. A San Diego police officer heard gunshots and observed two people walking on the sidewalk. The officer approached the subjects and observed one pointing a handgun. The officer ordered the subject to drop the weapon, but according to investigators he turned and pointed the weapon at the officer. The officer fired a round but missed the subject who then dropped the

gun and was taken into custody without further incident. No injuries were reported.

In a separate incident, a border patrol agent shot at the driver of a vehicle who he said tried to run him over. The agent attempted to make a traffic stop on a white pickup truck in Potrero Sunday shortly before 7am. The driver initially fled but stopped after a short pursuit. The agent began to approach the truck and that is when the driver allegedly put the truck in reverse and accelerated. The agent opened fire as the truck drove off. Agents located the abandoned truck not far away. The driver has not been located. The agent was not injured in the incident.
