happened around 12:40am at the home located at 325 North Melrose Drive #A. The victim told sheriff's deputies that she had been involved in a physical confrontation with her ex-husband a few hours earlier. Investigators determined the fire to be arson and they suspected the woman's ex-husband. The man, identified as John Pierce, was arrested during a traffic stop shortly after 1am. Mr. Pierce was charged with inflicting injury on a former spouse, arson, vandalism, obstructing a peace officer in the performance of their duties, driving under the influence and and driving on a suspended license. No injuries were reported in the fire. The investigation is continuing.
