SAN DIEGO, CA - (1-3-07) A series of storms are heading for Southern California. Rain is expected to begin as early as Thursday evening and showers will likely continue off and on through Monday. The National Weather Service says the bulk of the rain will come down

Friday night through Saturday. Two to five inches of rain could fall along the coast, with seven to thirteen inches in the mountains. Snow levels will stay above 8000' until Sunday when the snow level could fall to 4000'.

UPDATE - (1-5-07) Rain was heavy at times Saturday. More than 7" of rain fell at one location at Palomar Mountain. Strong winds blew a few trees over around the County and some roadway flooding was reported, No serious problems were reported in the recently burned areas.
