CAJON, CA - PRELIMINARY
REPORT - A teenage boy, armed with two guns, opened fire inside
a local high school Thursday afternoon. It happened around 12:45pm
at Granite Hills High School in El Cajon. Seven people are reported
to have been injured. Four suffered gunshot wounds and three others
hurt during the incident. One of the those suffering gunshot wounds
is the suspect. He was shot by a police officer during what authorities
are calling "a running gun battle." This is the second
school shooting in the last three weeks. Granite Hills High is
four miles from Santana High School. There a fifteen year old
boy opened fire March 5th. Two people died in that attack and
eleven others were injured. None of Thursday's injuries at Granite
Hills High School are thought to be life-threatening.
UPDATE:
The shooter has been identified as eighteen year old Jason Hoffman.
Hoffman is a senior at Granite Hills High School.
