Tiger Woods Sets Course Record Enroute to Buick Championship
SAN DIEGO, CA. - First round play at the Buick Invitational began Thursday at Torrey Pines Golf Club. Ted Tryba shot a seven under par 65 to take a one stroke lead. Following Tryba four other players are tied at six under. The second round is scheduled to begin Friday morning at 10am.
Dennis Paulson (photo left) of Vista was 7 under after the first nine holes Friday and finished with an 8 under 64. That's just one stroke behind the leader Ted Tryba. Behind Tryba at -14 and Paulson at -13 is Frank Lickliter at -11 and Billy Ray Brown at -10. Third round play is scheduled to begin Saturday at 8:30am PT.
 
Tiger Woods shot a blistering 10 under par 62 Saturday, setting a new course record at Torrey Pines South and taking a one stroke lead in the Buick Invitational. Behind Tiger at -15, is Billy Ray Brown at -14 then Kevin Sutherland, Bill Glasson and Frank Lickliter all at -13. Final round play begins Sunday at 8:30am PT.

1999 Buick Invitational SAN DIEGO, CA. - Tiger Woods started the final round of the Buick Invitational with a one stroke lead over Billy Ray Brown Sunday at Torrey Pines Golf Club. The two battled throughout the day and after 17 holes were tied for the lead at -20. That's when Tiger took control.
 
Billy Ray Brown struggled to save par on the #18 par 5 while Tiger put his second shot about ten 10' from the pin then knocked it in for an eagle.
