SAN DIEGO, CA. - The Yankees defeated San Diego 3-0 Wednesday and became World Champions for the 24th time. New York (125-50) also concluded the 1998 season winning more games than any team in Major League history.
   Yankee third baseman, Scott Brosius was named the World Series Most Valuable Player. Brosius hit safely in all four games, with 2 home runs, 6 RBI's and a .471 batting average.
